Monday Morning Mind Dump

Monday Morning Mind Dump

- Had two great services yesterday. The numbers - all of them - were a little down. But by and large we had a great Sunday.

- I preached on leadership. I've never set aside a whole Sunday to only deal with leadership. But right now we really need our leadership to go to another level.

- The down side to Sunday was that my message was REALLY long! Next week will be shorter :).

- Acts 1:12-26 - Leaders do three things. 1) The Pray Continually. Prayer is necessary to connect the people of God to the power of God. 2) Leaders gain PERSPECTIVE through the Scriptures - they understand through the filter of Scripture. 3) Leaders adapt. They adapt to two things: Plans and People.

- I thought Jeremy Rose - Axis Church, Nashville, TN did a good job praying over our leaders.

- I'm feeling good this morning. Mondays are a little slow for me because I have the holy hangover. That's just the way it is....

- I'm looking forward to this time next week. Next Sunday I'm heading to GA for the Sticky Church Conference on Monday and then The Sticks Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then on Thursday I'm playing in a golf tournament with my dad in Burlington, NC. Looking forward to that....

- I'm really happy with our www.WeNeed400K.com campaign. I think had about $10,000.00 given since last Sunday. I'll check that and we'll post the numbers soon.

- I would really appreciate your prayers through the month of May. We have so much going on you can't believe it.

- I'm working on learning to be a better planner. I have a good plan for this week. Usually my poor planning ends up screwing the people I love the most.

- I'm really proud of the people I serve with.

It's 6:45. I've gotta jet! Have a great Monday!

Monday Morning Mind Dump

I don't have too much to dump right now. But I would like to say that God is simply amazing! And I do mean AMAZING! He is doing something supernatural at Rocky River Church. I'm so thrilled that I get to be a part of it. What an honor!

Mind Dump

-Today was a great day at Rocky River Church. Our metrics (numbers - attendance and offerings) were a little off. I think that's because of the time change. Some people just missed it. But overall, a great day!

-I'm totally pumped about some new volunteers today. It's always great when new folks are buying into what we're doing at R2C.

-I wish the 9:30 sermon would have gone as well as I thought the 11:00. I was just on "it" at 11. Sometimes that happens when I'm not using notes.

-Enjoyed spending some time today with friends I don't usually get to hang out with.

-I'm PUMPED up about the marriage retreat coming up this week in Charleston. We have about 20 couples going and I think it will be great. My talks are going to be old school. I'm going to be teaching from Ephesians 5 and 6. Travis and I are doing a session together too which will be fun. Plenty of good learning, fellowship and a LOT of low-country fun.

-I love the office this time of year. We're gearing up for Concord's largest Easter Egg Hunt. We're expecting record crowds this year. Our office looks like the Easter Bunny's headquarters right now. Exciting!

-Building stuff heading in the right direction. We could still use lots of prayers this week. More updates at the end of this week or early next week. Pray! :)

-I'm glad the ACC Tournament is finally over. Kills me that the Heels stunk so bad. I really didn't even care about the tournament. Trying to muster up the energy to fill out NCAA brackets. No UNC! UGH!

-Lately God has placed the next generation (today's kids and students) on my heart more so than their parents. Our kids are in trouble today and it is mostly because their parents, and their parents' parents have mishandled them.

-More and more I'm learning that my job as a pastor is to raise the resources for our ministries and then get out of the way.

-God prunes our lives so we can grow. It's not always pleasant, but it is for our own good.

-Sometimes in church leadership, you have to have the gift of goodbye. The sign of a dead or dying church or one that is trying to hitch it's vision to people who are trying to walk away.

-Starting Easter weekend I'm kicking off a new sermon series called 7. I'll be teaching through the first three chapters of Revelation and talking about the second coming of Christ and the 7 churches of Asia Minor. You're going to enjoy it. Trust me! :)

-Wish I'd have gotten sign up for a senior pastor coaching network. I miss that kind of learning.

-People don't change that much. On a scale of 1-10, if a person is a 4 and you want them to be a 10 you can forget. The best you can hope for is a 5 or 6. That's just a fact.

-Karen and the kids are great. I'm so blessed! I'll be you are too...

That's about it....
