MusicBono Interview, Part 2Submitted by jimmybritt on Fri, 07/20/2007 - 4:56pm.A couple of days ago I blogged a Bono video from YouTube. Some of that video is also on part 1 and part 2 of the Summit interview. But there shouldn't be too much crossover. Anyway, here's part 2. Interview with BonoSubmitted by jimmybritt on Fri, 07/20/2007 - 4:45pm.This is part of an interview with Bono at last year's Leadership Summit (2006). Bill Hybels, one of my favorite pastors and leaders (Senior Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church) gives the interview. It is very powerful. Every Christian - not to mention pastors, pastor to students, administrators, church planters, worship pastors, etc. - should check this out. This is only part 1 of the invterview. I think the guy who put it out on YouTube has broken it down into 8 parts. I'll try to put them all up over the next few days. Again, this is powerful stuff! Very Inspiring!Submitted by jimmybritt on Fri, 06/22/2007 - 11:54pm.I stole this from my buddy Tony McCollum's blog (www.tonymccollum.com). I agree with Tony that it is very inspiring. My uncle Larry says that our world - and generation - is desperate need of inspiration. I agree. Check it out! Thanks Tony. I know you may be tired of the Elvis stuff...BUT...Submitted by jimmybritt on Wed, 06/20/2007 - 11:38pm.I know some of you guys are probably tired of the Elvis stuff. But too bad…☺. Anyway, June 21, 1977 was the last concert Elvis ever performed. By the time you read this blog it will be June 21, 2007 – the 30th anniversary of that concert. Here is a video of that last concert. Elvis is fat in this video. A lot of people pick on him for that. At Graceland they have on display one of his jumpsuits from when he was fat – on prescription drugs and depressed and eating too much. It has a belly pocket and all. There is a sign under it that says, “Don’t judge someone else until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes” (one of Elvis’ favorite sayings). All of us are fat, skinny, or ugly, or too short, or too tall, or balled-headed, or too hairy, or have a past we’re ashamed of, or drug and alcohol addictions or something else that’s wrong. This video reminds me that we’re all human beings and should be careful of how we judge others. The Bible says that we’re judged based on how we judge others. (Don’t know where the rant came from). Anyway, here’s the video… Staying PowerSubmitted by jimmybritt on Tue, 06/19/2007 - 11:06pm.One of the things I learned last week on my vacation is the importance of staying power. I learned this at Graceland - Elvis Presley's home. Elvis has been dead for 30 years this week. That is hard to believe. But at Graceland on Saturday afternoon there were literally thousands of people there to see his home, buy his CD's, shirts, pink Cadillac replicas, and other trinkets. He is as big today - and certainly brings in more money - than he did when he was alive. His "kingdom" is as strong as ever. That is amazing, Elvis fan or not. A Rant!Submitted by jimmybritt on Thu, 05/24/2007 - 11:10pm.I'm hanging out at home right now watching VH1 Rock Honors. They are honoring Heart, Genesis, ZZ Top and the self-proclaimed Prince of Darkness - Ozzy Osbourne. I have enjoyed it for the most part - the Heart and ZZ Top stuff was cool. Nickelback was AWESOME in their tribute to ZZ Top! I couldn't care less for Genesis though. Sorry if that offends my guitar snob buddy "MV Dave." :) |
